Who pays for this blog?
I receive no fees, considerations, etc. etc. for the posts on this blog nor do I have any plans to accept any. My salary is paid by Canwest Global Communications Corp. I work for that company as the Ottawa-based National Affairs Correspondent for Canwest News Service.

Briefing Books: Finance

For fiscal 2007, the Department of Finance will seek Parliament’s approval to spend $73.7–billion. (p455).

Here are the big ticket items in that request:

Interest and service costs related to the public debt plus funding for Canada Investment and Savings will be $34.4–billion.*

PM to snub gallery dinner?

I learned today (and reported on CTV Newsnet a few minutes ago) that the Prime Minister may ramp up his confrontation with the Parliamentary Press Gallery by refusing to attend the annual Parliamentary Press Gallery Dinner.
