Re: PM to snub gallery dinner?
by hollinm
The press gallery is being very unprofessional. If, as they say, it is their job to inform the public then how is that being accomplished when the press gallery walked out of a Harper press conference last year and continue to boycott prime ministerial press conferences? It is all about control for the press gallery and who they perceive to be running the show in Ottawa. It is the press of course who thinks they are an opposition party and anything they perceive to be interfering in their turf is considered to be war. Watch MDL and the Newman programs if you need any confirmation of the hatred that the gallery holds for Mr. Harper and the Conservative government. They are doing their best to hoist Mr. Harper on his own petard in order to get even for a communication strategy that they do not like and to destablize the government so their beloved Liberals and their liberal agenda can be put back into power. When was the last time you saw anything positive said about the federal government? Something is announced and there are any number of opposition opinions to counter the government's message. Look at the Atlantic Accord dispute. The media knows what Williams, McDonald and Calvert are asking is not fair regardless of the promise made by Harper in the last campaign. What is in the best interest of the country? However, everyday we see those three premiers misleading Canadians. It is only columists like Andrew Coyne and John Ivison of the National Post and Jeffry Simpson of the Globe and Mail who have written in defence of the new equalization formula. Frankly I don't think the rest of the press gallery is smart enough to figure out the nuances of the new formula. They are only interested in gossip and maligning the government. Harper should stay away from the press gallery dinner. Why would he want to hob nob with people who hate him?
